VoIP Voicemail Phone Interface Users' Guide

You can use Communité's phone interface to set up your voicemail options (e.g., create a recorded greetings, change your availability status, etc.).

Note: You need to log in to the VoIP Voicemail Web Interface and set up a numerical passcode before you can access your VoIP Voicemail inbox over the phone. For more information, see Set Up Your Voicemail Passcode.

Check Your VoIP Voicemail Using the VoIP Phone Interface

  1. To check your voicemail using the phone interface, dial 3-1000. Using this method, you can check your voicemail from any phone, on or off-campus. computer.
  2. Once you connect to the phone interface, enter your passcode using the softphone dial pad.
  3. You will hear a playback of your voicemail information (your name and how many messages you have). Dial 1 to listen to your new messages or dial 2 to listen to your saved messages.

    While you are listening to your messages, dial:

    • 3 To Skip to the next message.
    • 4 To Replay the current message.
    • 5 To Replay the current message.
    • 6 To Play text in the message body.
    • 7 To Delete the current message and play the next one.
    • 8 To Play envelope information.
    • * (asterisk/star) To return to the previous menu..

Set Up Other Voicemail Options

  1. Dial 3-1000.
  2. When prompted by the voice recording, dial 5 to enter the Manage Personal Options menu.
  3. On the Manage Personal Options menu, dial:

    • 1 To change your current Status.
    • 2 Manage your Follow Me rules.
    • 3 To manage your VoIP Rules.
    • 4 To manage your Personal Prompts.
    • 5 To access your Administrative Options.
    • 7 To manage your Recently Deleted Messages.
    • * (asterisk/star) To return to the previous menu.

  4. Once you make a selection, follow the prompts from the system to modify your VoIP calling or voicemail settings. The available options are the following:

    • Status: Your status setting lets other users in the system know if you are available to answer calls, if you are away from your desk, or if you are offline, among other options.
    • Follow Me: lets you forward VoIP calls to another phone number (e.g., your office or cell phone number).
    • Rules: Lets you turn your voicemail rules on or off. Using the Web interface, you can set up parameters for how the system will manage your incoming calls and your voicemail messages. For more information about rules, see our VoIP Voicemail Web Interface Users' Guide.
    • Personal Prompts: Your personal prompts are the set of recordings which callers listen to when they access your voicemail. This menu lets you record, review, and post these recordings. It also lets you turn them on and off.
    • Administrative Options: This set of options lets you manage your VoIP contact groups, change your voicemail passcode, set up your message playback preferences, and configure your new message notification options.
    • Recently Deleted Messages: This set of options lets you listen to and manage your deleted voicemail messages. You can save, forward, or reply to these messages in the same manner that you can with new or saved messages in your voicemail inbox. See the instructions above to learn how to manage these messages.
      Note: If you delete a voicemail from your Recently Deleted Messages, it will be erased from the system permanently. To save a deleted message (recover it to your Saved messages), dial 1 during playback.
