Inbox

A. UMail Mailbox Menu

The Mailbox Menu appears on every page as you compose and manage your email.

  • Inbox: return to the Inbox
  • Compose: write new mail.
  • Folders: create and manage folders
  • Options: set your personal preferences for UMail on the Web
  • Search: search for messages in your Inbox or other folders.
  • Post Office: change your UMail password, create an auto-reply message, or forward your mail to another email account.
  • Help: get tips for using Umail on the Web. For help with a specific topic, click on the help icon on the screen you need help with.
  • Logout: exit UMail on the Web and return to the log-in screen.
    Note: We highly recommend that you log-out once you are finished using UMail on the Web. If you do not, others using the same computer after you may be able to access your UMail account.

B. Folders

The name of the folder you are currently working in is shown in the Open Folder drop-down menu. Use the drop-down menu to open a new folder by clicking on its name.

C. Refresh Inbox

Click Refresh Inbox reload to check for and receive new, unread email from the UMail IMAP server.

D. Apply Filters

Click Apply Filters Apply Filters icon to apply your filters. Essentially, filters are rules that will automatically move or delete specified messages. To create filters go to Options > Mail Management > Filters.

E. Select & Mark as:

  • Use the Select: drop-down menu to select all or none of a certain type of message (e.g., deleted, important). To select individual messages, activate the check box(es) next to the message name.
  • Use the Mark as:drop-down menu to change the status of a selected message or messages. Performing this action will mark an email with an indicator (i.e., a color or an icon, or both). To select a mark, choose an option from the drop-down menu. The screen will then refresh with the changes you have made.

F. Blocklist

Click Blocklist to filter future messages from the same sender. To use Blocklist, select a message by activating the check box to the left of the email, then click Blocklist. This will add a rule to filter out the sender, and take you to the Filters page.

G. Move & Copy Messages

To move and/or copy messages:

  1. Select a message by activating the check box next to the message name.
  2. Select a destination folder from the Folder drop-down menu.
  3. Select Move to delete the message from your Inbox or current folder and move it to the desired folder. Select Copy to keep a copy of the email in your Inbox or current folder and add a copy to the desired folder.

H. Hide & Purge Deleted

  • Click Hide Deleted to remove from view all messages in your Inbox or current folder.
    Note: These messages, though hidden, will be part of your disk space quota. It is important to check and purge deleted messages on a regular basis. Once clicked, the button name will change to Show Deleted.
  • Click Purge Deleted to permanently delete an email from your Inbox or folder and the IMAP server.
