Manage Folders

In the Mailbox Menu, click Folders to view, create, modify, or delete your folders.

A. Refresh INBOX

In the Refresh INBOX, click Reload view Reload icon to refresh your folder list with new mail from the IMAP server.

B. Folder Actions

  1. To perform an action, select the folder you would like to modify by activating the check box to the left of the folder name.
  2. Once the folder is selected, select an action from the Choose action drop-down menu. Note: All folders are stored on the IMAP server. Changes you make to these folders will also appear in other email clients.
    • Create Folder will create a new folder in your UMail account. You will be prompted to enter a name for the new folder. If successful, UMail will tell you Folder [name] was successfully created.
    • Rename Folder allows you to rename an existing folder. You will be prompted for a new name. If successful, UMail will tell you The folder [x] was successfully renamed to [y].
    • Delete Folder(s) will delete selected folders.
    • Check Folder(s) for New Mail will check selected folders for unread mail.
    • Do Not Check Folders for New Mail will cancel the action above.
    • Download Folder(s) will download selected folders on your local machine as MBox files. Depending on folder size, this may take several minutes.
      Note: Mbox is a common format for storing e-mail messages on a hard drive. All the messages are stored as a single text file.
    • Empty Folder(s) will delete the contents of selected folders.

C. Expand All/Collapse All

Click Expand All to open all folders and view sub-folders or to view the entire folder tree. Click Collapse All to close all folders and sub-folders.

D. Indicators

The number under the number sign column header (#) shows the number of messages in each folder. The number under the envelope (Envelope icon) column header shows the number of unseen messages in each folder.
