Download Files

Learn how to download files or folders from your UDrive account to your computer.

Note: These instructions are for Internet Explorer on Windows, however, the steps are similar for other browsers.

Download Single Files

  1. Locate the file you wish to download (See Navigate Folders for more information).
  2. Click the name of the file you wish to download. A File Download pop-up window will appear.
  3. In the File Download window, click Save. The Save As pop-up window will appear.
  4. In the Save As pop-up window:
    • From the Save in: drop-down menu, select the location where you would like the file to be saved.
    • In the File Name: field, choose a name for your file or folder.
  5. Click Save.

Download Multiple Files or Folders

Note: UDrive compresses your files or folders as .ZIP files. To open and view these files once you've downloaded them, you'll need WinZip (Windows) or StuffIt Expander (Macintosh). If you change the file name, make sure the extension is still ".zip" and "WinZip File" appears in the Save as type: drop-down menu.

  1. On your directory listing in the file management frame, select the check box(es) next to the file(s) or folder(s) you wish to download.
  2. In the navigation toolbar at the top of the screen, click the Download As Zip (Download icon) icon. A File Download window will open.
  3. In the File Download window, click Save. The Save As pop-up window will open.
  4. In the Save As pop-up window:
    • From the Save in: drop-down menu, select the location where you would like the zip file to be saved.
    • In the File Name: field, choose a name for your file or folder. Note: The default filename is YOURNETID.zip. We recommend you re-name your file to reflect its contents.
  5. Click Save. Once the file(s) or folder(s) has downloaded, a Download complete pop-up window will open. Click Open to open WinZip and view your downloaded file(s) or folder(s) WinZip will open, or Close to view them later.
