Students, use SPIRE to view or print an unofficial transcript. The unofficial transcript lists your classes, credits, and grades that you earned at UMass Amherst.
Note: An unofficial transcript cannot be used for official purposes. It does not have the Registrar's signature or the stamp of the University of Massachusetts. It should be used for reference purposes only.
If you are a UMass alum and you have your SPIRE logon information, you can also use SPIRE to view and print your unofficial transcript by following the instructions provided below.
To print a copy of your transcript, see our guide Printing from SPIRE.
The official transcript lists your classes, credits, and grades that you earned at UMass Amherst. It has the Registrar's signature and the stamp of the University of Massachusetts. It can be sent to other universities or institutions as needed to support applications and verify your academic record.
Continuing & Professional Education, University Without Walls, Stockbridge, non-degree, non-credit, and any students without SPIRE access: contact the appropriate Registrar's Office to order an official transcript. See the Transcripts section of the Undergraduate Registrar's website for more information about how to order an official transcript.
Current undergraduate or graduate university degree-program students, or former (who began at UMass 2002 or later) undergraduate or graduate university degree-program students: use SPIRE to order an official transcript.
SPIRE defaults to this option. Leave this option selected if you want your official transcript mailed to an address you specify. Allow seven to ten days from the date of your request for the mailing of the official transcript, and longer if mailing to outside of the USA.
Enter the recipient's address (USA or foreign) information. You can enter your own address, another university, an employer, or any valid mailing address as needed. Click Submit to complete your transcript request.
Save yourself time and avoid delays! Carefully review the address information you entered before you click Submit to prevent your transcript going to the wrong address or being undeliverable.
Select this option if you want to pick up your transcript yourself or designate another person to pick it up for you at the Undergraduate Registrar's Office or Graduate School (as applicable). Allow two work days from the date of your transcript request before you (or the person you designated) go to pick it up.
When you select this option, your name and student ID number fill in by default in the Send To field under Specify Recipient. Check that your name and student ID in the Send To field are both correct and match what is printed on your UMass student ID card. Erase the text in the Send To field and type in the correct information if you need to make a correction. The Registrar's Office or Graduate School address information displays in the address fields and is not changeable. Click Submit to complete your transcript request.
Important! If your name or student ID number filled in incorrectly, make sure that you check your information on file with the University and have it updated or corrected as needed. More information about official names at the University.
To designate another person to pick up your transcript for you, erase your name and student ID number from the Send To field under Specify Recipient and type the FULL NAME of the person you wish to designate. The name you enter must match the name on that person's official photo ID. The Registrar's Office or Graduate School address information displays in the address fields and is not changeable. Click Submit to complete your transcript request.
Save yourself time and avoid delays! Make sure the name in the Send To field is correct and the same as on the person's ID card.
To pick-up your transcript at the Undergradate Registrar's Office or Graduate School, you must present your UMass Amherst student ID. For someone else you designated to pick-up your transcript, that person must present an official photo ID (e.g., student ID with photo, state ID, USA driver's license, or passport).
