Mathematica License for Students

Developed by Wolfram Research, Mathematica is a leading computational tool in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, and the Social Sciences.

Mathematica (Student Version) is available at no cost to UMass Amherst undergraduate and graduate students for use on personally-owned computers only. Students are not permitted to install this free version of Mathematica on University-owned computers.

Students can use the instructions below to download and install Mathematica.

1. Go to the Mathematica Activation Key Request Form page and click Continue without signing in.
2. Enter your contact information in the fields provided. Be sure to enter your umass.edu address. Click Submit. The Mathematica installer and activation key will be emailed to you. Note: Only students with email addresses that end in umass.edu are eligible to receive an activation key. You may be asked to verify your status with the University.
3. Log in to UMail to check your umass.edu email account. Follow the installation instructions provided in the email from Wolfram Research.
4. Run the installer and, when prompted, enter the activation key.
