Web Hosting Services Moved to a New Server (webadmin.oit.umass.edu)
OIT’s Web Hosting services moved to new servers in May 2007. Access to the old Web hosting server, oitunix.oit.umass.edu, will be disabled on August 9, 2007. About the OITUNIX Decommissioning

MacSSH is a terminal emulation application used to access remote computers such as UMass Amherst's OIT Web hosting server. MacSSH is SSH2-compliant and encrypts all data passed between a remote host and your personal computer.

Obtain and Install MacSSH

  1. MacSSH is available at no cost from our MacSSH Web site, then follow the rest of the installation instructions below.
  2. Double-click the MacSSH Installer on your desktop to launch it. Follow the directions to install it.

Connect to OIT's Web Hosting Server

  1. Start MacSSH.
  2. Go to File > Open Connection.
  3. Under Host Name, enter webadmin.oit.umass.edu. Make sure Secure Shell v2 is selected at the bottom of the window. Then, click Connect.
  4. Enter your NetID (OIT Account user name) and UMail password.
  5. You are now ready use OIT's Web hosting server!
