If you are a UMass Amherst non-work study employee or an instructor, as well as a student, learn how to add/update additional directory information that cannot be edited in SPIRE.
Name
If you are a UMass Amherst University employee, and need to change your name, you must update the Primary Name on file for you with the Division of Human Resources . To update your Human Resources Name, go to the Human Resources Employee Service Center (325 Whitmore).
If you are both a University employee and a UMass Amherst student, you must contact your Registrar's Office to change the Primary Name on file for your student record with the University .
If you are a UMass Amherst student, you can update your Preferred Name in SPIRE.
Email Address
To change your official OIT email address (UMail), submit an online Help Request .
You can update your departmental and non-UMass email addresses in SPIRE .
Published Department Name
Change your UMass Amherst employee published department name by sending an email from a UMass email address to directory@oit.umass.edu . You must include in the email your NetID (OIT Account user name) or the number listed as the "Campus ID" on your UMass paycheck. Also make sure to include the new department name that you want to appear in the print and online directories.
Privacy
As a UMass Amherst student, if you want to withold any of your directory information , you must contact your most recent Registar's Office.
University employees can withhold their home information but their work address, work telephone number, and University email address must be available in People Finder and the UMass Amherst print directory. Employees' home information is not displayed in People Finder; this applies to the UMass print directory only.
