Printing in SPIRE 3.0

Use our guidelines to learn how to print any SPIRE page (e.g., unofficial transcripts, grade or class rosters) directly from your browser. Our supported browsers for SPIRE 3.0 are:

  • Internet Explorer 6.x & 7.x, Firefox 1.x (Windows XP)
  • Safari 2.x, Firefox 1.x (Mac OS X)

Internet Explorer 6.x

  1. SPIRE pages consist of multiple sections or 'frames' (e.g., the left Menu, content areas, etc.). On the SPIRE page of your choice, click anywhere in the area that you wish to print (e.g., the grades area on a grade roster).
  2. Go to File > Print Preview.... The Print Preview for this page opens.
  3. At the top of the Print Preview page, next to the Help link, select Only the selected frame from the drop-down list. Your preview will change, removing any additional frames (e.g., the left Menu). Note: If you cannot see a drop-down list, close the Print Preview, and in the original SPIRE view, make sure you click in the area that you wish to print.
  4. In the upper left corner, click Print.... The Print window opens.
  5. In the Print window, click Print.The selected frame will print to the printer to which your computer is linked.
  6. Click Close to exit the Print Preview and return to your original SPIRE view.

Internet Explorer 7.x

  1. On the SPIRE page of your choice, click anywhere in the area that you wish to print (e.g., the grades area on a grade roster).
  2. In the Explorer menu, click the Print icon (print icon), then Print Preview.... The Print Preview for this page opens.
  3. At the top of the Print Preview page, from the As laid out on screen drop-down list, select Only the selected frame. Your preview will change, removing any additional frames (e.g., the left Menu). Note: If you cannot see the As laid out on screen drop-down list, close the Print Preview, and in the original SPIRE view, make sure you click in the area that you wish to print.
  4. In the upper left corner, click the Print icon (print icon). The Print window opens.
  5. In the Print window, click Print. The selected frame will print to the printer to which your computer is linked.

Firefox 1.x

Firefox offers several methods for printing multi-framed pages. The method described below allows you to print any SPIRE page, including reports (e.g., unofficial transcripts, degree audit reports). Other methods may not be as reliable.

  1. SPIRE pages consist of multiple sections or 'frames' (e.g., the left Menu, content areas, etc.). On the SPIRE page of your choice, click anywhere in the area you wish to print.
  2. In the Firefox menu, go to File > Print…. The Print window opens.
  3. In the Print window, under Print Frames, select The selected frame (if not already selected), then click OK. Your frame will print to the printer to which your computer is linked.

Mac OS X

Safari 2.x

  1. SPIRE pages consist of multiple sections or 'frames' (e.g., the left Menu, content areas, etc.). On the SPIRE page of your choice, click anywhere in the area that you wish to print (e.g., the grades area on a grade roster).
  2. Go to File > Print Current Frame.... The Print window opens. Note: If the Print Current Frame... link is not active, make sure you have clicked in the area that you wish to print first.
  3. In the Print window, click Print. Your selected frame will print to the printer to which your computer is linked.

Firefox 1.x

Firefox offers several methods for printing multi-framed pages. The method described below allows you to print any SPIRE page, including reports (e.g., unofficial transcripts, degree audit reports). Other methods may not be as reliable.

  1. SPIRE pages consist of multiple sections or 'frames' (e.g., the left Menu, content areas, etc.). On the SPIRE page of your choice, click anywhere in the area you wish to print
  2. In Firefox menu, go to File > Print…. The Print window opens.
  3. In the Print window, from the Copies & Pages drop-down list, select Firefox. New fields will appear in the lower part of the Print window.
  4. From the Frames area, select The selected frame, then click Print. Your frame will print to the printer to which your computer is linked.
