Clear Your Browser's Cache

Clearing your browser's cache means deleting what's stored in the browser's memory (i.e., files, cookies, browsing history). When working with SPIRE, we recommend that you periodically clear your browser's cache.

Windows XP

Internet Explorer 6.x

  1. In any browser window, go to Tools > Internet Options.... The Internet Options window will open.
  2. In the Internet Options window, on the General tab:
    • Under Temporary Internet Files, click Delete Cookies… and Delete Files….
    • Under History, click Clear History. Note: Clearing Explorer's history may take up to a minute.
    • Click OK. The cache has been cleared.
  3. Close, the re-start Internet Explorer.

Firefox 1.x

  1. In any browser window, go to Tools > Options.... The Options window will open.
  2. In the Internet Options window, click the Privacy tab.
  3. On the Privacy tab:
    • Click the History sub-tab, then click Clear Browsing History Now.
    • Click the Cookies sub-tab, then click Clear Cookies Now.
    • Click the Cache sub-tab, then click Clear Cache Now.
    • Click OK. The cache has been cleared.
  4. Close, the re-start Firefox.

Mac OS X

Safari 2.x

  1. In any browser window, go to Safari > Empty Cache. The cache will be deleted.
  2. Next, go to History > Clear History. The browser’s history will be cleared.
  3. Close, then re-start Safari.

Firefox 1.x

  1. In any browser window, go to Tools > Clear Private Data. The Clear Private Data window will open.
  2. In the Clear Private Data window:
    • Select Browsing History, Download History, Cookies, and Cache.
    • Leave all other check boxes intact.
    • Click Clear Private Data Now. The cache has been cleared.
  3. Close, then re-open Firefox.
