Check or Update a SPARK Course Request
Check the Status of a SPARK Course Request
Once you have requested a SPARK course, use SPIRE to check the status of your request. Requests are processed overnight, Sunday through Thursday.
Once a course request is processed, the course Status will change from Requested to Processed on the Step One: Choose from Eligible Sections page.
1. Log on to SPIRE.
2. In the left Menu, go to Faculty Home > SPARK Course Request. The Step One: Choose from Eligible Sections page will open, listing your SPARK-eligible classes.
3. On the Step One: Choose from Eligible Sections page, review the Status column:
- Not Requested. The instructor has not submitted a SPARK course request.
- Requested. A SPARK course has been requested for this class. The first time you view your SPARK-eligible classes after requesting a new SPARK course, the Status is marked by two asterisks (example: *Requested*).
- Processed. The course creation is in process, but your SPARK course is not ready to use
until you receive a confirmation email (sent to the email address displayed on the Step Two: Register A Class Section page). Wait for this confirmation email before opening your new SPARK course.
Note: If your SPARK course request has a Status of Processed for more than three business days and you have not received a confirmation email, contact the SPARK Administrators (spark@oit.umass.edu).
- Cancelled. The instructor has contacted the SPARK Administrators and cancelled the SPARK course. To reinstate a SPARK course, please contact spark@oit.umass.edu.
Update a SPARK Course Request
Once you have requested a SPARK course, you cannot make changes to the request form in SPIRE. Send an email to spark@oit.umass.edu to:
- Cancel a SPARK course request
- Remove a section from a SPARK course that combines multiple sections or cross-listed classes
- Add a section to a SPARK course that was created as a single-section course
- Cancel registration for Grade Upload
- Add Grade Upload to an already-requested SPARK course
