Note: We are currently working with CDW-G in order to improve the way you access and utilize their service. This guide is intended to help departments, faculty and staff who wish to purchase software for official univerisity use from the CDW-G site.
The CDW-G site lets you separately purchase software licenses (the key codes that will let you install and use a program legally) and media kits (the disks, manuals and other materials packaged with your software). If you already have the media for a program, you only need to purchase a license, but you may have to purchase both.
If you already had an account with TRC (our previous reseller), you can migrate your information to a CDW-G account, go to https://www.shoptrc.com/faculty/umass/. You will be redirected to an accounts page on the CDW-G site. Do not use this link if you did not have an account with TRC or if you need to create a new account with CDW-G.
Step 1: Select the Products You Wish to Purchase
- Open your browser and go to: http://www.cdwg.com/umass/. The CDW-G University of Massachusetts Systems page will open.
Note: There is a note on the CDW-G University of Massachusetts Systems page that refers "all students, faculty and staff" to a different site. Do not follow this link unless you are purchasing software for personal use. If you are purchasing software for official University use with a Procard, you are allowed to install one copy on your personal computer, so you will not need to purchase a separate copy.
- On the CDW-G University of Massachusetts Systems page, you must navigate to the appropriate section for the kind of product you wish to purchase:
- To purchase Microsoft Software Licenses: Click the MHEC Contract Microsoft Select Academic link and on the MHEC Contract Microsoft Select Academic page, click the Licensing link.
- To purchase Microsoft Software Media Kits: Click the MHEC Microsoft Media & Documentation Kits link and on the MHEC Microsoft Media page, click the Media Kits link.
- To purchase Adobe Software Licenses: Click the Adobe CLP - Education link and on the Adobe CLP - Education page, click the Licensing link.
- To purchase Adobe Media Kits: Click the Adobe CLP - Education Media Kit and Doc link and on the Adobe CLP - Education Media Kit and Doc page, click the Media Kits link.
Note: The MHEC Microsoft and the Adobe CLP pages offer different types of licenses and media for your software, if you are unsure which product(s) you need, please contact the CDW-G staff by phone or email before placing an order.
- Once you click the link to your desired product category (Licensing, Media Kits, etc.), you will reach a Search Resultslist which will show you all the available products under that category.
- On each respective Search Results page, navigate the listings until you find the product you are looking for and next to its title, clik the add to cart icon (red shopping cart, at right). The Shopping Cart screen will open.
- If you wish to purchase multiple products, use your Web browser's Back Button to return to the Search Results listings, browse for any additional product you wish to purchase and add it to your Shopping Cart. Repeat this process for each product you wish to purchase.
- Once you have finished shopping for the software you need, return to the Shopping Cart screen (click View Cart at top right to access it) and click Continue to Checkout.
- Follow the on-screen instructions on the CDW-G Web site, you may have to migrate your account from the previous vendor (TRC) or create a new account altogether.
