Fugu is a graphical interface for the text-based Secure FTP (SFTP) software available on Macintosh OSX.
Obtain & Install Fugu
- Fugu is available at no cost from the Fugu Web site.
- On the Fugu homepage, click Download. This will download the Fugu Installer on to your desktop.
- Click the Fugu Installer on your desktop, then follow the instructions on the screen.
Connect to OIT's Web Hosting Server
- To start Fugu go to Macintosh HD > Applications > Fugu.
Fugu will open showing a list of folders and documents on your computer on the left and some fields on the right.
- On the right side of the screen:
- In the Connect to: field, enter webadmin.oit.umass.edu.
- In the Username: field enter your NetID (OIT Account user name).
- Leave the Port: and Directory: fields empty.
- Click Add to Favorites to save this information so that you can use it later. You can access this information again by clicking on the globe icon.
- Click Connect.
- On the next screen, enter your UMail password.
Note: To save your password, click Add to keychain. We do not recommend that you save your password.
- Click Authenticate.
- Fugu attempts to connect. If a connection is made, a panel showing your files on OIT's Web hosting server will appear on the right with the name of the server below it.
Transfer Files
To download files:
- Within webadmin.oit.umass.edu, select the folder or file you would like to download to your computer.
- Drag this file or folder from its location on the server to the desired location on your computer. Fugu will show the status of the file transfer.
To upload files:
- In the local computer panel (on the left) select the folder or file you would like to upload.
- Drag this file or folder from its location on your local computer to the desired location on OIT's Web hosting server. Fugu will show the status of the file transfer.
