Virus Removal & OS Vulnerability

Computers vulnerable to or infected with certain viruses will be disconnected from the Internet and will not be re-connected until they are disinfected. This means that you won't be able to access campus services such as SPIRE or UMail on the Web.

Virus Removal Instructions

If you have been notified (via email or through the SafetyNet) that your computer is infected with a virus, or that we have detected vulnerabilities in your operating system, you will have to disinfect your computer and/or close security holes before you can re-gain access to the campus network.

Use the instructions below to disinfect your computer. These instructions include links to the latest anti-virus software, patches and updates, available at no cost for members of the UMass Amherst community.

Once you have finished disinfecting and/or closing security holes on your computer, you must visit or call Software Support (A119 LGRC · 545-9779) to have your network connection re-enabled.
