Following a recent security upgrade, some members of the University community may experience problems connecting to the UMASS-SECURE1X wireless network. These problems affect mostly Mac OS X and Linux computers and Apple mobile devices (iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad).
If you cannot connect to UMASS-SECURE1X or you are prompted to accept a security certificate, the Office of Information Technologies (OIT) recommends that you run the XpressConnect setup wizard again.
- To use XpressConnect, you must be on campus and connected to the UMASS wireless network.
- You may be prompted for your OIT Account NetID and password and/or your device's administrator and local user name and password several times during the installation process. Please read the prompts carefully to ensure you are entering the correct information. If you cannot remember this information, contact the OIT Help Center or, if applicable, the IT professional in your department.
- For general instructions on configuring your device, see our Wireless Network Access pages. These are general guidelines for configuring your device; actual steps may vary.
If you experience problems connecting to UMASS-SECURE1X in the future, running XpressConnect again may help you restore your connection. For any wireless problems or questions about connecting to UMASS-SECURE1X, contact the OIT Help Center (Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.).
