• An OIT Account:You will need a NetID (OIT Account user name) and your UMail password to access the network. If you do not have an OIT Account, or if you cannot remember your password, please come to room A113 LGRC. Don't forget your UCard!
• A Computer with an Ethernet Card:You will need a computer that meets our minimum system requirements and has an ethernet card (10 Base-T) installed. Most newer computers come with an Ethernet card already installed. If you need an Ethernet card, you can purchase one from OIT's Hardware Support (5-2036). They'll even install it for you! • An Ethernet Cable (RJ45-RJ45)
• An Active Ethernet Jack:Residence halls and some classrooms have ethernet jacks that are automatically activated. All you'll need to do is register your computer on the network. In offices on campus, contact your TUG rep to get a jack activated.

1. Find the active Ethernet jack where you want to connect to the campus network. An Ethernet jack looks similar to a phone jack, but is slightly larger.
   • Residence halls - single rooms have one jack that has been activated it (usually the jack labeled "C"). In double rooms, both jacks are activated.
   • Academic and administrative buildings - if only one of the two jacks is activated, it is usually the one labeled "D". If you need to have a jack activated, contact your TUG rep.

2. Connect your computer to the Ethernet jack using the Ethernet cable.
3. Ethernet jacks in residence halls and in some classrooms are part of the NetReg system. To connect to the network using these jacks, you must first register your computer with the OIT. See our NetReg pages for more information about the registration process.
