Burn a Data CD in OIT Classrooms (Macintosh)

  1. Press the Eject button in the top right corner of the keyboard to open the Macintosh CD-RW drive tray.
  2. Insert a blank CD-R or a blank/ partially full CD-RW media into the Macintosh CD-RW drive tray, and press the Eject button to close the drive tray. The You Inserted a blank CD window will open.
  3. In the You Inserted a blank CD window, in the Action: drop-down menu, select Open Finder. In the Name: field enter a name for your CD, then click OK. The Finder will open.
  4. In the Finder, the CD icon and name will appear in the left panel underneath the Network and OIT HD icons. Drag any documents you wish to burn to the CD onto the CD icon in the Finder, either from within the Finder, or from other open windows or the desktop.
  5. When you are ready to burn the CD, click the Radioactive icon (the yellow and black circle) just to the right of the CD’s name. The Do you want to burn... window will open.
  6. In the Do you want to burn... window, in the Burn Speed: drop-down menu, select Maximum, and click Burn. The Burning… window will open, and the burning process will begin.
Note: Any disk burned on Macintosh OS X will work by default on Macintosh and Windows computers.
  7. When the Burning process is complete, the Burning… window will close and the Radioactive icon in the Finder will be replaced with an Eject icon. Click the Eject icon to retrieve your CD, and then press Eject again to close the CD-RW drive tray.
