The Office of Information Technologies’ Telecommunication Services/Cable Engineering Services (C.E.S.) seeks to fill one position as either a C.E.S. Senior Engineer or a C.E.S. Engineer.

C.E.S. Senior Engineer (R31471)

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

The Cable Engineering Services Senior Engineer will work on all inside and outside telecommunications cable plant including both twisted copper pair and fiber-optic cable. The Senior Engineer will be responsible for design, preparation and stamping of drawings, specifications and contract documents for telecommunications projects and reviewing progress and contract compliance during construction of new buildings and renovations. S/he will coordinate emergency cable repairs as need arise.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering or equivalent. The candidate must have Professional Engineer registration in the state of Massachusetts or hold such an equivalent registration that entitles immediate registration in Massachusetts under established state reciprocity agreements.
  • At least 5 years experience in engineering and/or construction with experience designing and/or installing cabling systems.
  • Certification as BICSI RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) or qualifications necessary to obtain certification within one year.

$56,600 - $70,800.

Normal Hiring Range: $56,600 - $63,700

C.E.S. Engineer (R37533)

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

The Cable Engineering Services Engineer will work on all inside and outside telecommunications cable plant including both twisted copper pair and fiber-optic cable. The C. E. S. Engineer will be responsible for estimating, design, preparation of drawings, specifications and contract documents for telecommunications projects to be reviewed and stamped by the C.E.S. Project Engineer.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering or equivalent. The qualifications must enable the applicant to take the EIT exam, and then to proceed to obtain a Professional Engineer registration in the state of Massachusetts within 3 years.
  • At least 1 years experience in engineering and/or construction with experience designing and/or installing cabling systems.
  • Certification as BICSI RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) or qualifications necessary to obtain certification within two years.

Hiring Salary Range: $38,500 - $48,100.

Normal Hiring Range: $$38,500 - $43,300
