OIT Departments
The Office of Information Technologies (OIT) consists of a number of departments, each responsible for different technology services on campus.

Academic Computing
Academic Computing’s staff and facilities are dedicated to helping faculty incorporate technology into their teaching and research. You can access special equipment, training, and advice on the best ways to meet your pedagogical goals.
Academic Computing also manages OIT Computer Classrooms. Labs are available to faculty using technology in the coursework. Students, faculty and staff may use the computer facilities for homework (or other University-related work) when a class is not scheduled.
Administrative Computing Support Organization (ACSO)
ACSO implemented and now maintains the Student Infomation System (SIS) that supports administrative functions for the Undergraduate Registrar, Graduate School, Bursar, Office of Financial Aid, Division of Continuing & Professional Education, Housing, Office of Institutional Research and Graduate and Undergraduate Admissions Offices.
Business Office
The Business Office provides business and budgetary support for OIT.
Help Services
Help Services is comprised of four groups: Help Desk, Software Support, Hardware Support and LAN Support.

Help Desk
The Help Desk provides a single point of access for OIT services and for computing questions and problem resolution.

Software Support
The Software Support Group provides assistance with select Windows and Macintosh software applications and oversees the distribution of site-licensed software on campus.

Hardware Support
The Hardware Support Group provides repair, maintenance and installation services for campus computers and peripheral equipment. We also offer competitive prices on computer upgrades and enhancements such as network cards, memory and hard drives.

LAN Support
LAN Support provides departmental network installations, upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Network Systems and Services (NSS)
Network Systems and Services manages and operates the campus-wide data network systems and services.
Telecommunication Services
Telecommunication Services provides voice and data communications service to UMass Amherst faculty, staff, and students.
